Realization. . .

August 27, 2008

As “internet guru” of my office. I’m supposed to teach my association and membership about certain up-comings on the web and how it can hopefully help them prosper business. It’s not so bad. Teach some people about how this Web 2.0 trend can help them establish themselves.

Web 2.0 is a term describing changing trends in the use of World Wide Web technology and web design that aims to enhance creativity, information sharing, and collaboration among users.

~Via the Wiki (Using a “web2.0 site” to explain Web 2.0, bad form I’m aware)

It started out really simple. Teach them how to write a blog, gain some traffic, and promote themselves in an area where they weren’t before to reach a younger audience. I never really believed it to be a “new version” of the web, I didn’t think anything had changed but some new sites. But as I dive into this stuff day after day I start to realize what this has truly brought to the internet as a whole.

Its no longer about searching high and low for that “credible” source on the internet. Sites have centralized ideals in one massive clump. Tags on blogs, photos, and videos allow websites to pull in the brightest of ideals into one main hub site. Advanced crawlers actually sort out credibility for you, finding the most relevant item per your search.

In short, today I was just simply amazed at just how far the internet has come, and what it has become. /rant
